Tamim Iqbal: Bangladesh batter discharged from hospital after cardiac arrest

Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has been discharged from hospital following his cardiac arrest during a domestic match.

Tamim, 36, was rushed to hospital after complaining of severe chest pains while playing in a Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match on Monday.

The doctors now say he will return home and “hope he will be able to return to cricket soon”.

He thanked doctors for their “amazing” care on Tuesday, having been given angioplasty to relieve a blockage of the arteries.

Tamim, Bangladesh’s record run-scorer in one-day internationals, represented his country 391 times across all formats between 2007 and 2023, scoring 15,249‬ runs.
