The family of a woman found dead in Southport has remembered her as “fun-loving, kind and considerate”. Cathy Doherty was found dead at flats on Meols Cop Road in Southport at about 6pm on February 26.
Two men, one a 48-year-old from Kirkdale and the other a 60-year-old from Ainsdale, have now been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police are still treating the death of Ms Doherty, 52, as unexplained.
Both men have now been released on bail while police carry out further investigations to establish the complete circumstances around Ms Doherty’s death LancashireLive reports.
Ms Doherty’s have since shared a statement through Merseyside Police where they paid tribute to their loved one.
In the statement, they wrote: “We are all devastated by the loss of our sister Cathy. She was fun loving, kind and considerate.
“She will be greatly missed by all her family. Please can we ask that you respect our privacy at this traumatic time.”
A police cordon was put in place on Meols Corp Road after Ms Doherty’s body was discovered.
A number of patrol vehicles and police vans being present in the area.
Uniformed officers were seen securing the scene, while plain-clothed officers and forensic investigators examined the scene.
Forensics officers were visible through the window of a flat on the left section of the building.
The day after Ms Doherty’s body was discovered police were still present outside the block of flats, with officers guarding the scene also visible on the upper floor of the building.
A representative for Merseyside Police urged the public to come forward with any details.
