World press freedom plummets with ‘alarming deterioration’ in US under Trump, says RSF

The US under President Donald Trump slid to 57th place in the 2025 World Press Freedom Index published by Paris-based media rights group Reporters Without Borders (RSF) Friday. The annual indicator put press freedom across the globe at an “unprecedented low”, triggered in large part by economic pressure.
